Royal Wedding Watch Party

With the royal wedding only a day away, we’re here to help you plan a simple and elegant viewing party! Gather your closest friends bright and early for the wedding event of the year. Plan a breakfast tea party with a themed menu that draws on traditional American and British elements. Here’s a sneak peak at what we’ll be munching on while we watch:

In 1960 Queen Elizabeth made these drop scones, otherwise known as Scottish pancakes, for the US President at the time, Dwight Eisenhower. Click here for the recipe!

Since it’s a special occasion, take your avocado toast to the next level by adding our favorite toppings. We love to add roasted corn or tomatoes with a sprinkle of feta!

Harry and Meghan have chosen a lemon elderflower cake for their reception. While it may be a little early for your guests in the US to eat cake, incorporate the lemon flavor in muffins, scones, or donuts.

Numerous companies have created teas to honor the newest royal couple. Add a slice of lemon to your tea for an extra twist of flavor!

Mother’s Day Brunch

At EventMates we believe there is no better gift than good company and good food! This Mother’s Day, host a brunch for mom where she doesn’t have to lift a finger and can enjoy a whole day with her loved ones. Here are some of the key elements we are including at the brunches we’re throwing:

Pantone’s color of the year for 2018 is ultraviolet, a perfect color to incorporate into your Mother’s Day brunch. Showcase the violet color scheme in your flowers and in your desserts! One way we always recommend saving money on flowers is to focus on greenery with pops of the signature color you want.

Enjoy the (much awaited) warm weather and host the brunch outside! If you don’t have the space or the furniture, keep one element outside like a cocktail bar, a sign in book, or a fun photo opportunity.

Create a cocktail especially designed for your mom. Include flavors inspired by where she grew up, or maybe your family vacation spot from when you were growing up. Come up with a clever name and explanation, then print signage to frame at the bar.

Purchase fun sets of glassware to use at brunch that guests can then take home. The unique, matching glassware will add to the aesthetic of the event while also creating a useful and sentimental gift.

Festival Season

Each spring and summer, festival season brings us hundreds of creative brand activations. As event experts, we love seeing how brands use festival space to create immersive and interactive experiences for fans. Festivals have essentially become a fashion show, a hub for technology, and a must-see moment in pop culture, which is why brands are all so eager to have a part in festivals. Here are some of our favorite activations from Coachella 2018:

BMW’s #RoadToCoachella

Select influencers and performers were chosen to travel to Coachella in style. They were given one of a kind BMW’s with coachella inspired exteriors and were invited to share their experiences via social media.

CES ‘18 Eureka Park

We kicked off our 2018 in Las Vegas at CES, the world’s biggest tech conference! Hundreds of start-up companies showcased their cutting edge products in Eureka Park - where we were on site with Indiegogo and their partners Arrow and Ingram Micro.  The goal was to create an open space to engage entrepreneurs and showcase Indiegogo’s complete concept-to-market solution. Here are some highlights. For the full story, visit our sister company, Rubik Marketing.

Indiegogo’s open concept space allowed visitors to walk around and learn about the featured products. A pop-up meeting room allowed a private space for Indiegogo investors, inventors, and executives to talk. Guests could rest their feet and relax in the famous “gogo chairs,” back by popular demand for the second year in a row.

An interactive wall showcased successful flash-funded Indiegogo products that utilized Arrow technology. Multiple spots on the wall used conductive paint which reacted when touched and prompts the projectors to change images/information. The arrow team connected with guests and encouraged innovation by giving out free arduinos!

For Ingram Micro’s space we created a lounge-like atmosphere. Entrepreneurs were able to meet with experts who could answer all of their shipping, handling, and distribution questions. The space offered the perfect setting for collaboration!

5 Ways To Celebrate Cheese Lovers Day

Today is a very special holiday for lovers of cheese. As a cheese fanatic myself, I will be celebrating the day in many different ways. Here are a few ideas for you and your cheese-loving friends!

Hosting a cheese party for friends and family is a great way to celebrate this holiday. There are many ways to incorporate cheese into a party setting. Guests, wearing all yellow of course, could be offered cheesy dishes through different stations. Make-your-own nacho, mac and cheese, or grilled cheese bars are both entertaining and scrumptious. Throughout the night guests could take photos at a “cheesy” photobooth. And serve Cheese Tea - yes, Cheese Tea -  any milk, fruit or green tea topped with frothy cream cheese!

For a more relaxed approach to the holiday, a stay-at home meal could be a way to celebrate. Cheese can be added to almost every dish. This is a chance to get creative in the kitchen! Pay homage to cheese on this holiday by creating any of the recipes on our Cheesy Pinterest Board here.

Gorilla Cheese NYC is a favorite in NYC offering creative takes on childhood favorite: grilled cheese! Gorilla Cheese has the classics, like their American cheese on white bread with a side of tomato soup, and the outlandish, like their s’mores melt on graham cracker bread.  If you want a more mobile party for Cheese Lovers Day, the Gorilla Cheese NYC food truck is the way to go.

Looking to venture out to celebrate the cheesy holiday? Host a cheese tour! In NYC, we recommend hiring a Cheese Guide (yes, they exist) to lead the way. Pick a neighborhood and enjoy! And finish the tour at Beecher’s Handmade Cheese in the Flatiron District for a happy hour cocktail while watching the cheese being made.

Raclette, when cheese melted on a wheel and then scraped onto accompaniments such as potatoes, other vegetables, bread and meats, has become very popular in the last few years. If in NY, host a dinner party at the restaurant Raclette where a waiter will bring over a melted, half wheel of cheese and scrape the gooey goodness onto your food. This restaurant is the perfect way to celebrate the national cheese holiday.

Volez, Voguez, Voyagez: The Louis Vuitton Exhibition

On a freezing January afternoon, I approached the Louis Vuitton Pop-up Exhibit, “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez”, in the American Stock Exchange Building in Downtown Manhattan. As often happens with New York pop-ups, the line stretched around the block. The LV exhibit was no exception, generating a lot of buzz in its two month run.

As I finally made it inside the exhibit, I realized what all the fuss was about. “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez”, translated to “Fly, Sail, Travel”, was designed room by room to celebrate Louis Vuitton in travel. From the interior of a train car to the deck of a sailboat, each room was designed as a different mode of transportation, lined with LV luggage and bags. Walking through the exhibit felt like walking through time. If my surroundings weren’t interactive enough, the “LV NYC VVV” app brought guests through the long history of Louis Vuitton. The app offered experiences such as responsive videos, photo filters, and a chance to decorate your own Louis Vuitton trunk. With its themed rooms and fun interactive atmosphere, I felt like I was walking through time alongside the Louis Vuitton brand. At your next event, you might consider taking a page from Louis Vuitton and adding interactive aspects such as photo filters, photo booths, or an interactive app.
